The Modern Day Church
The Modern Day Church
Faith in the Lord is a crucial thing to succeed in any
endeavor. Modern day churches have forgotten the
importance of faith. One cannot succeed if they give all their
attention to the storm they are facing in life. Giving
attention to the storm creates doubt. A very good example
can be when Peter and Jesus walked on water. Peter was
scared of stepping out into the sea from the boat when he
saw Jesus walking on water, but his faith in Jesus was very
strong. Peter says to Jesus that if he commands him to walk
on water, he would do so. Jesus then commands him to
come. Peter steps out of the boat into the water without
sinking (King James Version Of The Holy Bible).
Faith in Jesus allowed Peter to walk on water towards his
master. Then a strong wind came towards Peter that
diverted his attention away from Jesus and Peter starts to
drown. A fearful Peter starts to call for Jesus’ help. Lord
Jesus immediately comes to Peter's rescue and stretches his
arm towards Peter. He catches Peter firmly. As Jesus was
helping Peter he asks him, "O you of little faith, why did you
doubt?” After this incident, Peter and the Lord Jesus get on
the boat, and the wind stops completely (King James Version
Of The Holy Bible).
From this story, we understand that we need to have
faith and a strong belief that the Lord will fulfill his promises.
Even Jesus declared that he could not do anything without
God. Doubt was the reason for Peter to sink into the water.
