            Rahab and the Spies

Rahab is one of the most astonishing and unique heroines

of the Old Testament. She is not an Israelite, but a gentile
harlot who becomes one of the most important women in
the Bible. Rahab becomes a faithful follower of the Lord. The

Lord uses Rahab to fulfill his promises to the Israelites (King
James Version Of The Holy Bible).

Rahab's story begins with the book of Joshua. The
passages of the book are mainly based on the conquest of

Jericho by the Israelites. Jericho was one of the most
important Canaanite cities at that time. Joshua sends two of
his spies into Jericho to look at the land they planned to
conquer. The king of Jericho comes to know about the two

Israelite spies on his land. He orders his soldiers to find the
spies and bring them to him. If the spies are found, they
would be killed on the spot (King James Version Of The Holy

            Bible).

The tale of Rahab in the book of Joshua is the most
crucial for the future of the Israelites. Rahab hides the spies

on her roof and tells them that the citizens of Jericho were
scared of the God of the Israelites since the Red Sea miracle
which defeated the Egyptians. In exchange for her help,
Rahab asked that her family be spared when the Israelites

attack Jericho. The spies thanked Rahab for her help and
grace. The spies also promise her that she and her family
won't be harmed as she had saved their lives. Rahab was
