Rahab has a very important role in the book of Joshua
from chapter 2 and 6. Rahab was committed to God even
during the times of war. Her words are very important in the
Bible as it confirms the promise of the Lord. Rahab accepted
God even when she knew that the Israelites were coming to
kill her and her people. Rahab accepted the God of Israel in
the most unlikely circumstances. Her statement, "YHMH is
God in heaven above and earth beneath" tells us about her
undying commitment to God (King James Version Of The
Holy Bible).
Rahab is one of the most unlikely candidates of a heroine
for the Christian faith. She resides in a country where idol
worship is carried out. Rahab does not benefit from the
leadership of Joshua or the destruction of her people. In
fact, supporting the Israelites may endanger her life and
lives of her family members. But, Rahab supports the Lord’s
after learning about his miracles. In spite of Rahab being a
harlot, she is intelligent and well informed. She easily
identifies the Israelite spies and decides to help them. Rahab
