Non-Traditional Faith

also asked by the spies to tie a scarlet ribbon which would

remind them about their agreement. When Rahab is called
by the king of Jericho who questions her about her new
clients, Rahab tells them that the Israelite spies had left at

dusk. In spite of being a prostitute, Rahab is shown in the
book of Joshua as a woman of virtue who gives her
allegiance to the Lord in spite of being a non- Israelite (King
James Version Of The Holy Bible).

Rehab was committed to God even during a time of
              battle.

Rahab has a very important role in the book of Joshua
from chapter 2 and 6. Rahab was committed to God even

during the times of war. Her words are very important in the
Bible as it confirms the promise of the Lord. Rahab accepted
God even when she knew that the Israelites were coming to

kill her and her people. Rahab accepted the God of Israel in
the most unlikely circumstances. Her statement, "YHMH is
God in heaven above and earth beneath" tells us about her
undying commitment to God (King James Version Of The

              Holy Bible).

Rahab is one of the most unlikely candidates of a heroine
for the Christian faith. She resides in a country where idol

worship is carried out. Rahab does not benefit from the
leadership of Joshua or the destruction of her people. In
fact, supporting the Israelites may endanger her life and
lives of her family members. But, Rahab supports the Lord’s

after learning about his miracles. In spite of Rahab being a
harlot, she is intelligent and well informed. She easily
identifies the Israelite spies and decides to help them. Rahab
